PERFORMANCE
Ford Escape

Whether you’re out on an epic road trip adventure or making frequent drives around town, the fewer stops you make at the gas station the better. Having a vehicle with excellent fuel economy makes your drives last longer while also being more efficient. That being said, you’ll also want a lot of power under the hood.

A Great Blend of Power and Efficiency

There’s something for everyone to love under the hood of the Escape with its multiple power trains to choose from. To kick off performance, a 1.5L EcoBoost® I-3 engine comes standard, delivering 180 horsepower and 199 lb-ft of torque.

If you want extra muscle, though, select the 2.0L EcoBoost® I-4 engine, which produces 250 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. This provides a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds when properly equipped.

On the other hand, the Jeep Compass only offers one motor, eliminating the power of choice. The 2.0L Turbo I-4 puts out 200 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque. However, towing capabilities top out at 2,000 pounds when properly configured.

Make the Most of Your Fuel Tank

The Jeep Compass and the Ford Escape both have impressive fuel economy ratings that will let you drive farther, longer. However, you’ll spend less time at the pump in the Escape. The Ford Escape also offers available hybrid and plug-in hybrid models. These fuel-efficient engines will help you cut back on fuel stops.

In comparison, the Jeep Compass doesn’t offer a hybrid powertrain.

INTERIOR
Ford Escape

Whether you’re planning an exciting camping trip or are staying around town to hit up local trails, you’ll need to stay comfortable throughout the drive. The Ford Escape and the Jeep Compass offer roomy cabins so you can stretch out throughout the journey.

Plenty of Space to Stretch Out

Both models have spacious interiors. However, you may prefer the added room in the Escape:

Ford Escape
Jeep Compass
Headroom (Front/Rear) 40 inches/39.3 inches 39.2 inches/38.5 inches
Legroom (Front/Rear) 42.4 inches/40.7 inches 41.8 inches/38.3 inches
Shoulder Room (Front/Rear) 57.6 inches/56 inches 56.7 inches/55.1 inches
Hip Room (Front/Rear) 55.2 inches/53.3 inches 54.1 inches/49.2 inches

Both you and your passengers will appreciate the added space in each and every seat of the Ford Escape. If you want to keep your passengers comfortable and happy during your trips, you’ll need plenty of space for them.

Leave Nothing Behind

In addition to ample interior space, you’ll need plenty of cargo room in your next SUV to store all your road trip essentials. With the 60/40 split-fold down rear seats upright in the Ford Escape and the Jeep Compass, you’ll have room for daypacks, your tent, and a cooler.

However, the Escape offers more room for bulkier items with 37.5 cubic feet of cargo room. Meanwhile, the Compass falls short with 27.2 cubic feet of cargo space.

In both rides, you can fold down the rear seats to gain more space for larger items. Once again, though, the Escape is roomier with 65.4 cubic feet of cargo room. It may be a tight fit in the Compass with a maximum of 59.8 cubic feet of cargo space. Think of the extra things you can pack on your next camping trip or vacation in the Ford Escape!

TECHNOLOGY
Ford Escape

In modern vehicles, state-of-the-art technology makes your drives more fun for everyone. While passengers are entertained, you can access a host of convenient features from the driver’s seat in both vehicles.

Enter a High-Tech Cabin

The Ford Escape and the Jeep Compass both have an available 4G LTE in-vehicle Wi-Fi hotspot for passengers to enjoy while in transit. Streaming entertainment, accessing emails, and retrieving files from the cloud is made simple in both SUVs.

The Ford Escape contains a 12-volt power outlet to plug in your gear and keep it charged, along with dual USB ports and an available wireless charging pad. The Jeep Compass also comes standard with a 12-volt power outlet. However, you won’t have access to the convenient and high-tech wireless charging station, limiting your phone-charging options.

The Ford-Exclusive SYNC® 4 Advantage

One technology that’s only available in Ford vehicles is SYNC® technology. The advanced SYNC® 4 system is available in the 2023 Escape, offering plenty of options that are both functional and engaging. This voice-controlled technology allows you to make calls, ask for directions to nearby attractions, command your playlist and music, listen and respond to texts, and more.

SYNC® 4 also uses the centrally located touchscreen to make connecting even more simple and accessible. Pairing your smartphone with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ connectivity turns this screen into an extension of your phone’s home screen.
